Combine Images into a PDF
Turn photos and scans into one small PDF. Free and private, right in your browser.
Why most photo PDFs are huge
A phone photo is about 12 megapixels. An A4 page printed at 150 dpi needs about 2 megapixels. When an app drops full-resolution photos straight into a PDF, every page carries six times the pixels it can show, which is how a few scanned pages end up at 50 MB or more.
Smushify resizes each image to its page at the resolution you choose and stores it as an efficient JPEG, so each page is typically a few hundred kilobytes and the PDF stays easy to email or upload.
How to make a PDF from images
Add your images above, put the pages in order with the arrows, and choose a page size (A4, Letter, or each image at its own size). Pick Document for scans, Photo for pictures, or Smallest when you need the smallest file, and turn on Greyscale for black-and-white documents. You will see an estimated size before you build the PDF.
Frequently asked questions
Why are PDFs from my phone so big?
Phones often put every photo into the PDF at full resolution. A 12-megapixel photo has several times more pixels than a printed page can show, so each page can be several megabytes. Smushify resizes each image to the page at print resolution first.
Will the pages be the right way up?
Yes. Smushify reads the orientation stored in each photo, and each page takes the orientation of its image, so portrait and landscape photos both fill their page.
Can I sign the PDF or add text to it?
Smushify makes the PDF; to sign it, fill it in or add text, open it in SecureSignFree (securesignfree.com), our free PDF signing site.
Are my files uploaded anywhere?
No. Smushify converts everything inside your browser using WebAssembly. Your files are never sent to a server, so it is safe for private photos, client work and unreleased videos.
Is Smushify free?
Yes. There are no sign-ups, watermarks or file limits beyond what your device can handle. You can convert as many files as you like.
